Dharmasthala : The 82nd edition of Sarvadharma Sammelana as a part of the Laksha Deepothsava celebrations held at Dharmasthala on November 21, Friday.
Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vala inaugurated the Sarvadharma Sammelana (All Religions Conference)by lighting the lamp at Amrithavarshini Auditorium in temple premises.
Speaking after inauguration governor said, morality and humanity is all religions faith. The duty of the followers to use philosophy and morality in their daily lives, he said.
Religion is telling us great values of the life, we should always believe the truth and follow the lane of the religion,” he said.
The present generation is drifting away from spiritualism and are getting closer to materialism. The fight for fortunes in the form of gold, cash and jewellery has increased. One should move away from this and strive to live a truthful and righteous life,
Being literates is one of the best gifts that an individual can offer to his country Vajubhai said adding that it would also teach men to respect women.
“Women are superior to men and they will always remain so,” he said and added that following religion does not mean visiting place of worship and lighting lamps in front of the deities. “Dharma makes one truthful. God always blesses the righteous and the noble,” he added.
Religious Director of St Joseph Seminary, Mangaluru Fr Clifford Fernandes, Co-Editor of Sudha weekly B M Haneef, Director of Maha Bodhi Societ, Bengaluru B V Rajan, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade, D Surendra Kumar and Prof S Prabhakar were present among others.
The programme saw a classical music concert by Shankar Namboodiri, while, ‘Kanchimaaru Katte’ utsav was also held.
