Mangaluru : Around 250 body builders from 29 states would take part in the national body building competition here on February 13 and 14.
The event is being organised by city-based Dakshina Kannada Amateur Body Building Association and National Amateur Body Building Association.
Ivan D’Souza, MLC, and the Association president, told reporters here that bodybuilders selected for this competition would be eligible to participate in the national competitions.
Around 250 bodybuilders from 29 states would participate in the event, he said.
Competitions would be held for various titles like ‘Bharatha Kesari’, ‘Bharatha Kishora’ and ‘Bharatha Shree’. Winners would also get cash prizes, he said.
He said the maximum number of body builders in the country hailed from the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada.
Raymond D’Souza from DK had won the Mr World body building championship 25 years ago, he said, adding that there had been other body builders from the district who had won national and international competitions.
An organising committee had been formed chaired by district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, including people’s representatives in the district, he said.
