Mangaluru : The police on Friday registered a case against Chairman of the South Canara District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd. M.N. Rajendra Kumar for allegedly threatening a bank employee for causing loss to the bank.
In a complaint filed before Mangaluru North Police on Thursday, Chandraprakash, an office-bearer of the employees union of the bank, alleged that Mr. Rajendra Kumar called him to his chamber a few days ago and accused him of causing a loss of ₹ 25 crore to the bank.
Mr. Chandraprakash has in the complaint said that Mr. Rajendra Kumar threatened him that he would hire people from Mumbai and have him and others killed for causing loss to the bank.
The police have registered the complaint under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Mr. Rajendra Kumar’s office and residence were among the premises that the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate officers inspected last month following demonetisation.
