Bangaluru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, on Monday, said the State government was planning to implement free education for girls from class 1 till postgraduation.
He was speaking during the felicitation ceremony organised by his alma mater National Education Society (NES), which is also in its centenary year.
This was also part of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s budget promise.
After the felicitation ceremony, members of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation submitted a memorandum and urged Mr. Kumaraswamy to ensure that the decision by the earlier government of providing free bus passes to students in Karnataka, which was supposed to roll out from June, takes off.
To this, the Chief Minister reportedly said he would call for a meeting shortly and review the project.
