Mangalore : Coastal Development Authority Chairman B Nagaraj Shetty said that the government must not ban Gutka packet since the areca growers are face huge loss by this initiative by the government.
Speaking at the press meet held at his office on March 8, Wednesday said that the farmers are facing loss due to the ban of gutka packets since it is made of plastic. He also said that, if they ban Gutka for such reason they must also ban chocolates and milk since both are packed in different kinds of plastic.
Gutka must be banned only if they use harmful chemicals or else must provide time till find other alternative for package. Further MP and MLA’s will meet Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and will discuss to find certain solution.
Speaking at the indefinite protest staged by the MSEZ victims, he said that the first round of talk with the state government has been completed and further the people under the leadership of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will fight for justice.
The Udupi Power Plant had assured to give the industries without pollution; in this regard CM had called the meeting in Bangalore.
In the second year of establishment the Coastal Development Authority, which is an advisory board will work to promote three districts to the top position.
Minister Nitin Gadkari had also advised to respond to the tourism including beach tourism and religious tourism in three districts. The infrastructure of Athrady to Manipal short cut road will give the distance of 48 to 52 km from 65 km at the present.
Pointing on the Solar Lighting system, he said that the houses will be distributed the Solar Lights and the new company has assured to give the lights worth Rs 8,000 with 5 years warranty. The tender will also be called in the process further. The MESCOM will be the agency for distribution of lights in two districts in association with Coastal Development Authority.
