Mangaluru: Dr Sudha Murthy, Chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and a philanthropist, who is widely appreciated for her relentless activism and contribution towards societal welfare, donated medical supplies worth Rs 28 lakhs to the district.
Commissioner of Police Harsha on Saturday, March 28 informed that Sudha Murthy responded to the call of Mangaluru Police on behalf of DK district administration and within 36 hours critical medical supplies worth Rs 28 lakhs have reached Mangaluru.
Police Commissioner Harsha tweeted, “Mrs. Sudha Murthy responded to the call of Mangalore Police on behalf of D K district administration and within 36 hrs Critical Medical supplies worth Rs 28 lakhs have reached Mangalore. We thank Madam Sudha Murty and Infosys Foundation’ Sri Ramdas Kamat and team.
Sudha Murthy had earlier promised to help the government with other supplies including medical equipment.
It may be also be recalled that Sudha Murty in a letter addressed to the Karnataka government had outlined preventive measures that can be taken to curb the spread of the virus before it gets worse. Sudha, who leads the State government-constituted Karnataka Tourism Task Force, had also called for shutting down of malls and theatres as the coronavirus multiplies in air-conditioned areas, according to media reports.
