Mangalore: Suzlon an energy producing company working in Mangalore, will set up RE power Wind Turbines on the coast here, as it owns 91% of such RE Power systems AG of Germany at present.
The RE power turbines in Suzlon Unit at Mangalore would be for export Markets, said Tulsi Tanti, CMD of Suzlon Energy Company.
It has facility in Padubidri to make rotor blades, nacelles (the part at a tower top that holds components) like gears and brakes, nose cones and nacelle covers, with an annual capacity of 1500MW.
The 2 MW wind turbines manufactured in city go to US, Canada, Australia and Brazil for empowerment. It will source same gearboxes from Hansen’s plant in coimbatore. The manufacture of REP turbines in India will be a major step for suzlon and REP. Suzlon will use Mangalore port to export turbine products. It also acts a sales agent for RE Power in western/commonwealth countries.
In the 9-month period ending December 2010 Re-Power said that the excess capacity in wind energy market was high leaving marginal gains and pressure on prices for onshore wind turbines in 2011, Tulsi Tanti stated.
The Company looks to improve international Competitiveness and improve the use of additional production facilities abroad, as in Germany. Its shares can be easily picked up on NSE at Rs.45.40 for the 2 rupee share.
