Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district reported 33 new coronavirus cases and Udupi district reported 9 new cases on Friday June 26.
As per the district health bulletin, 139 are currently active. the 33 corona-positive patients tested on Friday, there are 18 males and 15 females including a child. Nine among them are Saudi Arabia returnees, six have travelled from Qatar, one has come from Udupi, two with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and four with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive, and the source of infection of one patient is being traced. One has contracted infection from P-8005, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 19, one from P-8004, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 19, one from P-8006 who tested positive on June 19, another from P-9739, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 24, one from P-10275 who tested positive on June 25 and five have contracted infection from P-9735, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 24.
A total of 46,934 people have been screened so far, including 80 on Friday. 12,744 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 12,015 have turned out negative, and 527 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. As many as 378 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 10 deaths have occurred so far.
In Udupi district 9 people have tested positive for coronaviruson Friday. 8 are males and one female. Three have travelled from Bengaluru, two are Maharashtra returnees, one each from Muscat, Qatar and Kerala, and the source of infection of one patient is being traced.
In Bengaluru as many as 445 new cases were reported in Karnataka on Friday, June 26 taking the count of active cases in the state to 3905, the health department said in its bulletin. Bengaluru accounted for 144 of the new cases reported.
The state also reported 246 discharges and 10 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
As on date, 11,005 positive cases are confirmed and 6,916 persons have been discharged. The death toll has mounted to 180.
District-wise Ballari accounted for 47 cases; Kalaburagi (42); Koppala (36); Dakshina Kannada (33); Dharwad (30); Raichur (14); Gadag (12); Chamrajnagar (11); Udupi (9); Yadagiri (7).
Mandya, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkote, Shivamogga and Kolar reported six cases each, Mysuru (5); four each in Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu; three each in Bengaluru Rural, Hassan; two cases each in Vijayapura, Tumkur and Haveri; and one case each in Bidar, Belagavi, Davangere, Ramanagara and Chitradurga.
