Mangalore, April 11: The Karnataka Christian Union and various welfare associations staged a protest in front of DC Office on April 11, Monday condemning the recent raids by Bajarang Dal and attack on Social workers and Christian welfare organizations.
Addressing the protestors Vicent Alva, said that today there is necessary to fight against these condemns since the authorities who are required to support the victims have made the matter unheard. Hence this kind of reaction by the people is necessary, he said.
Criticizing the Somashekar Committtee report he said that the Justice Somashekara who had collected all the material and witnesses from the people required for report had finally turned off giving the pale conclusion. He is involved with the politicians and Bhajarangdal activists and given the report pro hindu. One must be not surprised if he is given the Doctorate degree further by the government.
Speaking on the attacks on Lancelot Pinto’s orphanage he said that the Hindu outfits are reached to the lower level where they go and conduct raid with the Child Welfare Committee president Asha Nayak and Shakunthala Gowda at the MCC opposition leaders orphanage without collecting any factual information. These Bhajarang Dal activists are violating the law even to the present day and claim the reputed people in the case of conversion. These activists did not even spare Mother Theresa from labeling her social worker for conversion.
He regretted that the police officials who are supposed to stop the moral police acts by the Bhajarang Dal are supporting them. After the raid in the orphanages, the CWC members had not even give the food for the children till night and this shows their inhumane nature, he added.
Denis D’Silva of Karnataka Christian Associations International Union compered the programme. Mariamma Thomas, social worker read the memorandum which is being handed over to the Governor through DC Subodh Yadav.
