Mangalore: At the Kambara Mudara Chavadi, DK minister Krishna Palemar announced on Sunday in Town Hall, that a Community Hall would come up for the social activities of Nalike alias Paanar society members.
He said the government was bound by this promise made by him. The Paanara Samaj was celebrating the Silver Jubilee of its association, with district committees of Kodagu, Udupi and Kasaragod attending the proceedings, at the Town Hall in Mangalore.
Palemar informed that anybody undertaking entertainment programmes to denounce Bhootharadhana (spirits worship by Tuluvas), will be taken care of by his government, and no one should refrain from complaining against such evil entertainers, deriding Tuluva traditions.
Shashikant Mani Swamiji of Balekodi demanded the establishment of an academy for Nalike people, who had made enormous contributions to the Tulunad culture, to secure all-round development of this society. The Nalike society sprang out of dancers in the court of Charnad kings of Tuluva history. Their economic, social and educational development is a matter of concern today, said Paanar chief M.D.Yenkappa.
DC Channappa Gowda, MP Nalinkumar, MLA Yogish Bhat, writer Erya L.N Alva and Pro.Narendra Rai Derla were present.
