Mangalore: The initiation of the repair works of the 300 meter stretch of road between Kottara Chowki and Konchady via Malemar on June 6, Wednesday in the presence of elected representatives, reveals that our authorities wake up from their slumber only when they are warned.

The repair works were initiated just a day after the local Jana Hitharakshana Samithi warned to go on a fast demanding the repair of the stretch of road which is virtually unmotorable during monsoons and is in dire straits.

Former minister and sitting MLA Krishna Palemar initiated the works on Wednesday and promised that the works would be complete within two months. Mayor Gulzar Banu, Opposition leader in MCC Deepak Poojari, corporators Shashidhar Hegde, Shanker Bhat and local leaders were present. The work is taken up at a cost of Rs 2 crores.
