Manipal: Students of various polytechnics in Udupi district organized a protest on July 20, Friday, under the aegis of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat demanding re-introduction of carry over system for diploma course students. A procession was taken out from Manipal Tiger Circle to the DC office where the students submitted a memorandum seeking early fulfillment of the demands.

Students were heard shouting slogans denouncing the Board of Technical Education as well as the state government for abolishing the carry over system.

If the present system is taken into consideration, then students who failed in more than four subjects in two years, will not be admitted to the third year.

Students from polytechnics in Manipal, Koteshwar, Manchi. Kadiyali and Nitte took part in the protest.
