Udupi:  There has been a sharp rise in the prices of Chaali  Mangalore arecanut on August 28, Tuesday. Growers said Hosa Adike  and Hale Adike were purchased  at Rs 191 and Rs 255 per kg respectively.

CAMPCO, the apex co-operative body of areca growers  on Tuesday  further encouraged the market by purchasing Hale Adike for Rs 245 per kg and Hosa Adike for Rs 183 per kgs.

This further improved areca prices in Vittal, Adyanadka, Panaje, Puttur and Uppinangady.

The initial market price for Hosa Adike on Tuesday was Rs 190 per kg and in Vittal market it increased further by Re 1 at around 11 am. There is an expectation that the price of hosa adike will rise to Rs 200 by this week end.
