Mangalore: Outgoing ZP Chief KT Shailaja Bhat has made it clear that she would continue as a ZP member and had no plans to contest assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters at the ZP office, she said various developmental works worth Rs 465 crores have been undertaken through various departments during her tenure.
Expressing her gratitude to all those who extended their cooperation in discharging her duties, she said the DK ZP has been elevated to the seventh position from the 21st position during her tenure and hoped it would soon stand first
ZP CEO KN Vijayaprakash who also spoke, while referring to Endosulfan victims said an estimated 1300 Endosulfan victims were in the district. The compensation amount would be fixed on the Kerala model after a survey, he said.
He also informed that the government had sanctioned a package of Rs. 95 lakhs for the overall development of the Malekudiya tribals in the district
