Mangalore: Gopal B. Hosur IGP (western Range) on transfer to Bangalore as additional City Police Commissioner, spoke today in Karnataka Bank auditorium in a send – off, to the local press /media.
He told journalists in an aside, that the media/press were helpful to administrations by giving enough publicity, thereby maintaining the faith of the people in police department for their workstyle as well. He thanked the further estate for their co-operation (despite what happened at Bajpe air terminal on Monday).
The press/media people have carried our publicity even to outside the state and country. He sought pardon for any excesses committed by the police or anything remained to be done to serve the people at large. He expressed happiness over the fact that a commissionerate of police was established in Mangalore in his time as IGP. In the next 2 years, the commissionerate will conduct laudable work, he felt.
A strong police force can subdue anti-social and criminal (naxalite) activities, by bringing them under law and punishing them as per legal provisions. Tot his extents, DK police have always worked, he stated.
He landed Mangalorean culture, education, hospitals and other standards of life. The media is not lagging behind to carry news all over India and keeping the country united, for which he spelt out his appreciation in the farewell talk on Wednesday.
