Mangalore : Over 300 activists joined the Karnataka Janatha Party at the convention held by the party at Town Hall on Jan 30, Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, KJP State Secretary Ramachandra Baikampady said that today the state government is taking people in the wrong direction.
He said that KJP founder B S Yeddyurappa had not started the party to rule the state, but the party was established to fulfill his vision to build ‘Suvarna Yuga in Karnataka’.
He was all praise for Yeddyurappa and said the government under Yeddyurappa’s tenure had done remarkable progress. He also claimed that the state was ranked first in development during the tenure of Yeddyurappa.
He also said that when Yeddyurappa’s achievements started to implement in the state, Ananth Kumar and Kumaraswamy planned conspiracy against him, giving him many sleepless nights. Yeddyurappa is a person, who had trusted his people and handed over the charge to former CM DV Sadananda Gowda, but he never thaught that there was a conspiracy behind his fake smiling face.
KJP State Executive member Mariamma Thomas said that Yeddy started a party for the for his followers and not in desire for power.
She also said that Yeddy had implemented various welfare schemes including Bhagyalakshmi Scheme, Sandhya Suraksha, Self Help Groups and Widow Pension scheme for the beneficiaries, but former CM DV Sadananda Gowda as well as the present CM Jagadish Shettar have shown no interest in continuing it.
Yeddy was the first CM to grant the amount of Rs 300 crore to MCC directly for the various infrastructures and such developmental works will be continued if he comes to power once again, she added.
Many activists from other parties like Yogesh Shetty Jeppu, Jyothika Jain, Lawrence D’Souza and many other joined the party.
KJP leaders like Kamaraj Rai, Ravindra Shetty, Azeez Baikampady, Shivprasad, Manoj Kumar, Kiran Shetty, Hameed Kudroli and others were present.
