Bengaluru : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that action will be taken to allow people’s protests in front of the town hall.
He was speaking after releasing a book in honor of Dr. Marulasiddappa, -“Ethical Strength of Progressive Movements – Dr. Marulasiddappa” and honouring KMS couple in a programme held at the Basappa Auditorium, today.
Genuine populist movements that alert the government are vital to society. I support and welcome such protests and movements., he said.
The CM said that our Government is committed to protect freedom of expression.
The CM said that he would discuss about providing an opportunity to protest and fight in front of the Town Hall with the Advocate General as soon as possible.He said that they will discuss the steps that can be taken in this direction and come to an appropriate conclusion.
A stagnant system full of inequality must change. This change is possible only through people’s struggle and movements. Therefore, there should be a real populist struggle and protests to warn the government, he said.
Not only do we welcome the struggles to warn the society and the government, but our government is committed to the protection of freedom of expression, the CM said.
Some devotees of Basavanna do not celebrate Basavanna’s rationality. They do not follow Basavanna’s values which fought against superstition. . But K. Marulasiddappa is a true sharana.The CM appreciated that he lives a life as he speaks and writes.
Dr. Prof. S. G. Siddaramaiah, President of KMS Fan Club presided over the event, editors of Abhinandana Granth, H. Dandappa, Srinivas G. Kappanna and many others were present.
