Moodbidri: Alva’s Virasat, a national level cultural festival organised by Alva’s Education Foundation, was inaugurated by D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala at Shobhavana, Mijar on January 10, Thursday. Prior to the function a colourful procession was taken out displaying the grandiose of Indian culture and tradition.
Speaking after inaugurating the mega event, Dr Heggade stressed on the need to imbibe noble values and also to respect women as, he said it was vital to prevent crime against women.
He also congratulated Alva’s Education Chairman Dr Mohan Alva for organizing the cultural splendor called Virasat.
Noted dancer Padmabhushan Dr Padma Subrahmaniam was conferred the Alva’s Virasat Award. Speaking after receiving the Award, she said she felt greatly honoured to receive the Award and added the Alva’s Virasat was a good example how culture was amalgamated in education.
N Vinay Hegde, Chairman of Nitte Education Trust, presided over the function. Dr Mohan Alva. Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation and others were present.
Dr M Balamuralikrishna presented a Carnatic vocal concert while flute concert by Pandit Ronu Majumdar as part of Raaga Lahari left the audience spell bound.
