Bangalore : State Director General of Police Lalrokhuma Pachau has said that a major catastrophe has been averted in Karnataka with the arrest of eleven persons with suspected links with terrorist organizations like the Lashkar-e-Toiba and HUJI. He said the arrested terror suspects had plans to assassinate some top politicians, journalists and Hindu leaders.
Of the eleven, six terror suspects were arrested in Bangalore and five from Hubli. They were reportedly acting at the dictates of LET and HUJI operators in Saudi Arabia, said BG Jyothiprakash Mirji, City Police Commissioner.Several ammunition including a 7.65 mm foreign made pistol have been seized.
It has already been reported the 11 arrested included a journalist from Deccan Herald in Bangalore. The latest arrests came after four suspected Indian Mujahedeen activists involved in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blast case were picked up from Hubli for questioning, police said.
