Mangalore: An auto driver allegedly killed himself by hanging to the roof of a government office at the DC office premises on September 28.

The deceased has been identified as Kandak resident Sudhakar Shetty (45).

According to sources, the deceased had started collecting the amount of Rs 20 for chit fund from 2013 with the assurance to pay during Dasara with interest. But the financial crisis he was facing led him to commit suicide.

 It is learnt that Sudhakar, was seen at the auto stand till 9 am on September 28 but later was found hanging at a roof of a government office located at the DC office premises.

Pandeshwar police reached the spot and removed the body and registered a case in this regard.
