Mangaluru : While expressing her delight over the low maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in Dakshina Kannada, actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra said good medical facilities in the district will help bringing down the rate further.
Launching the Woman and Child Centre of the KMC Hosptial in Ambedkar Circle, Ms. Kundra said she was proud that she hails from the district that takes good care of women and provides excellent healthcare facilities. The new facility at the KMC will add to the facilities for women and childcare in the district, she said. During her brief interaction with them, Ms. Kundra recalled her days of pregnancy and said the traditional form of care led her to gain weight. She advised expectant mothers to follow the nutritional diet prescribed by the doctor and take better care of their health.
Expressing delight over participation in the function at her native place, Ms. Kundra said she loved eating “Pelakaida Gatti” and “Kori Roti”. She will use this visit to Mangaluru to pay obeisance to Durgaparameshwari in Kateel, Ms. Kundra said.
