Bengaluru: Bharatiya Jantha Party is plotting a strategy to agitate against the state government of Karnataka. It is reported that rather than trying to pre-empt downfall of the government, it wants to carry out the movement by focusing on failure of the government on various fronts, corruption, differential treatment, overlooking of development activities etc.
Yeddyurappa, the BJP leader, shall undertake a three-day tour to drought hit areas from June 7. BJP legislature party meeting has decided to kick off a three-day programme of demonstration and agitation in the city from June 13 on the issue of decision to sell land to Jindal Steel, failure in handling drought and inability to properly initiate rehabilitation of distressed families in Kodagu which were affected by last year’s floods.
Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will be staying in Gurumitkal constituency on June 21 as part of his village stay programme. Curiously, Yeddyurappa will be undertaking inspection tour of drought-hit areas of this constituency on June 9 itself.
Reporting to the media after the party meeting held at the state BJP office, state BJP general secretary, Arvind Limbavali, said that the irresponsible approach of the state government towards handling of drought in spite of the fact that its attention was repeatedly attracted towards the severeness of drought, was condemned at the meeting. He also informed about Yeddyurappa’s planned three-day drought-hit areas visit beginning from June 7.
