Mangalore: Accredited social health caretakers should spread awareness about certain special schemes conceived by the state government for the BPL card holders to benefit them in distress, said additional DC Prabhakar Sharma today at a training camp that he inaugurated for such (Asha) activists at a district level convention held in the local Town Hall on Oct.25. Over 800 woman social workers participated in this training programme.
Sharma pointed out that most of the common citizens were unaware of many helpful schemes for the welfare of citizens by the govt. A smart card for BPL women, can ensure her medical help upto Rs 30,000. The card is a part of the Central scheme, in which a family pays only Rs.30 per year as its health contribution. The insurance cover goes upto Rs. 30,000 on it, Sharma stated.
All major surgeries or ailments are covered in this health policy, he added. K.S. Shivarame Gowda presided on the occasion. ZP Dy. Secretary, and DK dt. Health officer Srirangappa were present, among other officials at the camp.
