Mangalore : Panambur police have arrested three Assamese youth on the charges of stealing copper cables valued at Rs 1.68 lakh belonging to Bharti Airtel, on September 3, Tuesday. The arrested are Atabul Lasker (20), Lasker (20) and Mitun Lasker from Assam. The Panambur police who acted on the basis of a complaint by Bharti Airtel ofiials that the cables were stolen from the Data Centre of the firm at Plot No. 7 at Baikampady Industrial Area, arrested Atabur near Jokatte.
On interrogations, he revealed that he had hidden the stolen cables beneath a bush at Angaragundi. Later the police arrested the other two accused and seized the stolen cables.
It is learnt, the trio who had come to Mangalore in search of jobs, were staying in a rented house near Angaragundi. Interrogations of them also revealed that they instead of doing any work had resorted to thefts.
Investigations are underway.
