Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada SP Ravikantheh gowda said that food and water was distributed to stranded passengers particularly the children, elderly ones and the diabetic.
The road is now cleared and vehicles were allowed to pass through. However DC said that they will close down this route for two days to clear the debris.
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on either side of Charmadi as landslide occurred at various places on this stretch.
Charmadi Ghat has been witnessing frequent traffic jams ever since vehicles were diverted through the area because of its lesser width and other reasons. Rail traffic between the coast and hinterlands too has been affected since June 11 morning due to landslip in the Ghat section.
