Mangalore : The Mangalore Press Club and DK Working Journalist’s Association jointly organized ‘Meet the Press’ with City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh at Press Club on Jan 18, Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that he had taken charge as the Commissioner of Police on April 30, 2010 and Commisionerate was established on January 26, 2010. He has been working as the commissioner for about nine months now.
He also said that, from January to April, there were no infrastructure and on June 5th, the Gazette notification was sent and 2 DCP, CR and 4 senior level officers took in charge at the posts. It is proud to say that, no Commissionerate office will be set up in such a short period and it is running very smoothly and the team is working here to build up good understanding.
The police officials work is not like working from morning to evening, but they have to work for 24* 7. First we must work to maintain law and order while setting up commissionerate office. There were some major changes but there is reason for it, he said.
The commissionerate is office has been completed in three months and the man power strength and infrastructure is expanding. There is hardly any facility for media like press club obtained in other district apart from Madikeri he said.
The Commissioner office will provide more infrastructure facility like waiting room, ladies room, sitting room separately constructed. The foundation laying ceremony has been setup for the Surathkal Police Station. The Kavoor station is in rented place and Bunder station development rightly on hold. Further the Bunder Station will be constructed in a model of CID office located in Bangalore, he informed.
Karnataka State Housing Corporation is heading for the new infrastructure for all the police station. The commissionerate office has Panambur and City Subdivision and aims to give immediately service to the Public.
Speaking on the PCR, he said that, the department will also implement Police Control Room Van including the facilities like Medical aid, kit box, stretchers, tear gas, Gun, Shield, Lathi and other facilities which will roam 24 in the city police limits. The van will consist of 3 to 4 police officials who will be trained to help in emergencies and the police control room number will be displayed in bold letters, he said. At present there are 10 tavera used by the officials and further 14 vehicles are required for 70 police station. The vehicle will not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to reach the spot, he added.
Further the police assistance booths will be implemented which is not fixed structure
