Mangalore: CM Yeddyurappa, on a visit to Mangalore region went through a series of programmes like inaugurals of various public works, laying the foundation stones, and holding a public meeting, all under one roof, at the Town Hall on Monday (today) afternoon. He lighted the traditional oil lamp to start these activities.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed that the attention of the state govt has been drawn to the feeble-minded children in society and the educational poor conditions in which they are disregarded, and consequently, an amount of Rs 100 crores are kept in reserve to revolutionize their educational standards by meeting all requirements of those teachers, who uplift them. He noted that Raksha Bandhan day (Upakarma / Coconut Day also) was being celebrated everywhere today and called upon all youth to stand united as a nation without any divisions, to protect the country as patriots. Rs. 5 crores is being released to Mangalore for a drama auditorium (Ranga Bhavan). The new office of city police Commissionerate is coming up soon. The port city will be developed as next only to Bangalore and there is enough scope for such development, he stated.
9 lakh day labourers are getting benefits of ‘Bhagyalaxmi Scheme’ in the state, CM said. He promised to provide education to the poor children upto age 14 in the next 18 months, and added that industrialization scheme also would make progress.
CM declared that he would provide a good governance that even the opposition would praise. He said Karnataka was the first state in India to limit mining of ores and their exports, so that future generations would also get their benefits out of earth. Karnataka has attained the first place in India in managing state wealth and taxes, he added. This was supported by Reserve Bank of India.
He admitted that private public partnership in developmental works would continue, and that Mangalore would be developed totally with an honest attempt for it. The CM honoured donors P. Dayananda Pai and brother P. Satish Pai for offering Rs. 2.25 crores each as their share for the city development in Car Street and Balmatta Colleges. The CM has stated that there was no dearth of capital for local developments.

At the Police Commissionerate Complex:
Foundation stone laying ceremony in Pandeshwar, with CM arriving in a Volvo bus with pressmen, to take a look at the proposed project, the work on which starts on Tuesday.
It will be ready to function as city Commissionerate of Police in Mangalore by January 26 next year, according to Dr. V.S. Acharya, home Minister, who was present in CM’s entourage.
