Mangalore, April 16: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for the new premises of Lady Goschen Hospital on Saturday, April 16.
Speaking at the formal stage function, Mangalore south MLA and deputy speaker of assembly N Yogish Bhat presided over the event and said that today the infant mortality rate and women death rate during delivery has reduced in Dakshina Kannada compared to other districts.
He also said that Raghava Naidu has given Rs 18 crore for the construction of the hospital under the K R Keerthi Foundation Trust and the State government has sanction the amount of Rs 2 crore for the maintenance of the hospital. He also appreciated Naidu for donating Rs 1 and half crore for the repair of the Sri Venkataswamy High School at Batwal.
Further super facility scheme will be implemented in the Wenlock and he is finding the other donor. After the BJP government came into power there has been the tremendous development in the state regarding the road, electricity, water and even hospitals, he said.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that the Lady Goschen Hospital will be the biggest hospital in Dakshina Kannada district.
Appreciating the donor Naidu he said that Naidu is the live example for humanity, where he forgot the pain of losing his daughter due to lack of treatment and came forward to help others in their pain.
CM also assured the hospital authority and others to provide more facility to the hospital in the coming days and asked more donors to follow the rare gesture of Naidu.
Later CM also felicitated Donor Raghava Naidu and his wife with shawl , fruits and memento.
The construction of the new premises is being funded entirely by Andhra Pradesh entrepreneur K R Raghava Naidu’s K R Keerthi Foundation Trust, set up in memory of his late daughter K R Keerthi.
The new premises would cost Rs 18 crore. The hospital would be upgraded from its present 260-bed capacity to 500-bed status. It will be equipped with advanced technology and facilities. The hospital building will be constructed in the one year duration.
The new facilities to be made available in the hospital would include a well-equipped laboratory with experienced staff, blood bank, intensive care unit, operation theatre, delivery room, general and special wards, store-room for medicine, pharmacy, well-equipped class-rooms and staff room etc. Besides a proper drainage system and round-the-clock uninterrupted power supply and soundless generator will also be provided. District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar, Zilla Panchayat president Shailaja KT, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, Mayor Praveen Anchan, Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, DC Subhodh Yadav, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and others were present.
