Bangalore : The BJP had once married JD-S for 20 months when Bookanakere Yeddyurappa was deputy to CM HD Kumaraswamy in 2005-06.
Now the JD-S having failed to woo Congress repeatedly at elections (Rajya Sabha or GP), BJP had examined the prospect of a re-marriage after divorce in 2008.
Presently, the CM who heads BJP leadership in party (Eashwarappa is his friend), and in power, he does not want JD-S to come closer even for an embrace.
Yeddyurappa told the gathering at Davanagere in a’Jana Jagriti Samavesha’ with Karunakara Reddy (Revenue Minster from Bellary) attending, that BJP has MLAs in good strength and people’s support (as proved by floods relief fund collection), so he needs no support from an ex-colleague like JD-S (which is as isolated as the ostrich in a Sandstorm).
On the other hand, state BJP chief K.S. Eashwarappa taking on Congress in the boxing ring (at Davanagere) said that what appears now in Karnataka as the Congress Party was only an artificial Congress, not the real one, hence there was no holy lustre attached to the Padayatra now under way, he taunted. Meanwhile, union Minister for Ecology, Jairam Ramesh has written a letter to CM pointing out that 3 companies were still mining iron ore in Bellary against ecology and forest maintenance principles. One hopes the CM does not issue a threat such as his Tourism Minister and colleagues has done on Monday, Aug 2.
