Bangalore: The Congress legislator in Karnataka have decided to resign en masse, if the Centre does not impose President’ rule as recommended by state Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj.
The decision was taken in a meeting attended by KPCC leaders Siddaramaiah, President G. Parameshwara and others in a committee of action. The JDS has indicated its support to this move, by asking its own MLAs also to resign, it is learnt here.
The Congress is conducting a public protest since Tuesday morning here by closing 4 national highways, to force the Government of India. It has urged the Centre not to hesitate under any circumstances to impose the President’s rule on Karnataka, for the 5th time now.
But BJP is not falling behind. It has organised protest rallies against the Governor in all district centres.
The BJP has held the governor as one opposed to the constitutional provisions, and appealed to the Centre not to accept any recommendation of his in writing, leading to imposition of President’s rule in Karnataka.
Congress leader Motamma has also threatened to resign today as MLC, if the President’s rule is not imposed soon, as per Governor’s recommendation. She is the leader of opposition in Vidhan Parishat (Council).
Speaking to newsmen during the protests going on in city, KPCC Chief Dr. G. Parameshwara stated that an anti-people’s govt, had moral right to rule, so the Centre without feeling embarrassed anymore, should bring President’s rule into Karnataka, or else the Congress would consult the High Command and submit collective resignations of all Congress MLAs.
