Mangaluru : Construction workers who converted their two-day dharna into an indefinite fast on Thursday under the banner of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Karnataka State Building and other Construction Workers Federation ended their stir after Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim responded to their demands.

A release from said that the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the workers leaders, including Vasanth Achari and J. Balakrishna Shetty, and directed Labour Department officials to consider applications filed between 2011 and 2013 for membership under welfare schemes. Mr. Ibrahim has directed the department to give reasons for rejecting any such application.
