Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada recorded 401 new corona cases and five deaths, Udupi reported 169 new corona cases and two deaths on Saturday September 12.
As per the health bulletin, the 401 new cases, 97 are primary contacts, 210 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 18 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 76 cases are under investigation. As many as 156 out of the 401 are asymptomatic. Among them, as many as 227 are from Mangaluru, 47 from Bantwal, 52 from Puttur, 30 from Sullia, 24 from Beltangady and 21 are from outside DK district.
A total of 16,959 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 3,707 are currently active. A total of 1,18,886 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,01,927 reported negative.
The five deaths on Saturday, three are from Mangaluru, one each from Sullia and outside DK district. All the deceased had co-morbidities.
As many as 12,813 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 204 on Saturday. A total of 439 deaths have occurred so far, including five on Saturday.
Udupi district reported 169 new cases and two deaths on Saturday September 12.
As per the health bulletin the 169 new cases, 95 are in Udupi, 47 in Kundapur, 22 in Karkala, and five from outside the district. Among them, 58 acquired the virus through contacts, 46 have ILI, one has SARI, and 58 are under investigation. Five among the 169 cases reported have history of domestic travel while one has internationally travelled. Out of the 169 cases, 93 are asymptomatic.
A total of 7,387 people are in COVID hospitals including 41 fresh admissions on Saturday, while a total of 6,518 people are in home isolation, including 128 new on Saturday.
As many as 12,022 people, including 238 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation/hospitals so far. These include 6,490 from hospital isolation wards, and 5,532 from home isolation.
A total of 84,073 samples have been collected so far, including 1,125 on Saturday, out of which 848 are COVID suspects and 170 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 69,710 have turned out to be negative, including 915 on Saturday, and 451 reports are awaited.
