Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district reported biggest single-day spike in coronavirus cases with 147 cases and Udupi reported 45 new cases on Sunday July 5.
As per the district health bulletin, the 147 who tested positive on Sunday, 48 were discovered after random testing in Ullal. The district health bulletin stated that these were under investigation. Among the rest, 35 are primary contacts, 40 are ILI symptoms, two have SARI symptoms, eight have international travel history to Saudi,Muscat and Dubai, seven have travelled from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Bihar, two have travelled by ship from Malaysia, and four samples were collected pre-surgery.
Total 38 patients, including three children, were discharged on Sunday. As many as 10 patients are currently in ICU. As on today 666 cases are currently active. As many as 554 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 22 deaths have occured so far, including two non-COVID deaths.
A total of 20,650 samples have been sent for tests so far, including from private labs. As many as 18,842 have turned out negative, and 1,232 are positive till date. Out of these, a total of 47,885 people have been screened so far in Dakshina Kannada.
Udupi district reported 45 new cases on Sunday July 5, the 45 new cases, contract tracing of six is under process. As many as 18 have travel history to Maharashtra, two have travel history to Bengaluru and Hassan, including a one-month-old baby, one is a returnee from Chitradurga, and another from Andhra Pradesh. A total of 17 patients are primary contacts of earlier patients
As per the health bulletin released by the administration, a total of 4,873 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 4 on Sunday, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1057 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 127 people are in isolation wards, including 30 fresh admissions on Sunday. Among the new admissions, three are COVID suspects, ten have SARI and 17 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1084 people, including 12 on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 28 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kasaragod district On Sunday,. This includes 10 persons who returned for abroad, and 11 returnees from other states.
