Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district recorded 167 Coronavirus positive cases and Udupi reported 22 new corona cases on July 9, Thursday.
According to the district health bulletin of the 167 positive cases, 64 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. Three persons had returned from the UAE and Qatar and one person had travelled from Bengaluru. Forty-two persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), and six persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).
The health officials are tracing the contacts of thirty-eight others. The other 13 persons had tested positive during the pre-surgery test.
All the 167 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, seven persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
Udupi district reported 22 new corona cases on July 9, Thursday. As many as 1,217 patients have been discharged so far including 28 on Thursday, and 223 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
A total of 145 people are in isolation wards, including 24 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among the new admissions, three are Covid suspects, seven have SARI and 14 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,064 people, including 21 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
