Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada district police have arrested four persons and seized gold valued at Rs 5.5 lakh in connection to Uppinangady house burglary case.
The police seized three motorcycles worth Rs 1 lakh in connection with two housebreak thefts reported under Uppinangady police limits.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shamshuddin,30, resident of Uruvalu village in Belthangady; Nawaz Mohammed, 25, resident of Karaya; U Nizam, 27, resident of Karaya and Sarfraz,24, Ilanthila.
On May 14, victim KN Sharath Kumar, resident of Karaya complained that he had locked his home and gone to his bakery in Kalleri. When he returned in the evening, he found that unidentified miscreants had illegally gained entry into his home and fled away with gold valued at Rs 3.81 lakh and Rs 14,000 in cash.
Another victim Shahida, a resident of Muriyala, complained that when she had gone to her mother’s house on May 14 in Kalladka and returned after three days later, she found the house doors broken. The miscreants fled with gold valued at Rs 1.70 lakh and Rs 4,000 in cash. Cases were registered at Uppinangady police station.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishikesh Sonawane said special teams were formed to nab miscreants.
