Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai on Monday said that the district would soon be declared open defecation-free as most of the households had toilets.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar informed that toilets were constructed in houses as per the 2011 census and now toilets were being constructed at houses that were built after 2011.

As many as 6,000 houses falling under the Zilla Panchayat did not have toilets and authorities were involved in constructing them, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer PI Sreevidya.
