Mangaluru: The District Administration will not allow any protests in communal violence-hit Dakshina Kannada district on Friday as Section 144 has been imposed in five taluks of the district till the midnight of July 11, said Deputy Commissioner Dr KG Jagadeesha here on Thursday.
The Deputy Commissioner was responding to reports that protest marches would be held by Hindu organisations to condemn the attack on RSS worker Sharath at BC Road on Tuesday night.
Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha said that no organisation had requested permission for staging a protest on Friday in any part of the district. He added that if permission was requested, it would not be permitted as Section 144 had been imposed. However, if any protests were held, the act would be against law and legal action could be taken, he stated.
Dr Jagadeesha gave the statement after reports emerged that protest marches would be held in BC Road, Puttur and surrounding areas by certain Hindu organisations condemning the attack on the RSS worker.
