Mangalore : The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Town Hall on April 17, Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Subodh Yadav said that all land belonging to Dalits, which was once taken by the rich and influential people, will be handed back to them. He also assured the Dalits that the district administration will acquire such land and will return it back to them.
Further he said that, 5,800 acres have been used for various Dalit development projects, adding that 367 acres was earmarked to provide houses for Dalits and that 24 acres was recently handed over to the Dalits by Assistant Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma.
Later he also distributed the books among deserving Dalit students on the occasion.
DSS State Convener Rohitaksha, DSS DK District Convener SP Anand, Mayor Praveen Anchan, and others were also present.
