Mangaluru:  Sayabanna (30), a constable attached to the District Armed Reserve Force raped a woman promising to marry her.

A rape case has been registered at the Women’s Police Station against a constable by a woman from Bengaluru.

The accused Sayabanna, hailing from Basavana Bagevadi in Vijayapura district.

The woman in her complaint had alleged that the constable had raped her and had even gone back on his promise to marry her. She has alleged that the accused along with a Bengaluru resident Ramesh Gowda had even threatened her when she insisted on marriage.

It is alleged that the cop had befriended the woman through Facebook and had visited Bengaluru on May 20 to discuss marriage and had then reportedly raped her. He had again raped her at his quarters after asking her to come to Mangaluru on June 12, the complainant alleged.
