Mangalore: The Dakshina Kannada District 3rd additional court Judge had rejected a complaint given by unhappy BJP city Corporators against the election of Congress Suratkal Katipalla(MCC) member Gulzaar Banu Sheikh as city Mayor, thereby allowing her to continue as Mayor (by default of BJP), in spite of being in Minority Congress Party in Mangalore city Corporation (MCC).
The BJP has filed a suit in Karnataka High Court as well, in the same matter, disputing about Mysore Divisional Commissioner MV Jayanthi’s ruling in favour of Gulzaar Banu, and KHC verdict is posted for April 3. There was no interim stay order.
Meanwhile, there were fisticuffs in MCC Budget session, between ruling(minority) Congress and opposition (majority), BJP, about laying the Budget papers on the table of the house on Friday, March 30.
BJP corporators walked out noisily. The Congress presented and passed what was prepared as BJP’s budget within the given clean occasion. BJP has 35 members and Congress 21 in a 60-seat(as many wards) MCC set-up
