Mangalore : Commissioner of Police Seemanth Kumar Singh, speaking at the press meet held at his office on Dec 7, Monday, said that the DK police has made various preparations for the arrival of the India’s President Prathiba Patel’s to Mangalore on Dec 8 – 9.
He also said that, President will reach the Bajpe Airport on Dec 8 at 3:50 pm and there will be 10 minutes break for the media person to click the photos and at 4:00 p.m, she will go to Manipal by helicopter to participate in the convocation ceremony of Manipal University.
On the morning of Dec 9, at 9.30 am she will reach to airport she will leave for Mangalore to participate in the Konkani Ekta Divas, part of the 25-day World Konkani Cultural Convention, which is scheduled to be held on Nehru Maidan at 12:00 p.m., via Kavoor- Bondel – Mary Hill – KPT- Nantoor- Shivbhaug- St Agnes- Balmatta- Dr Ambedkar Circle- Hampankatta- Clock tower.
Further she will participate in the programme to 1 pm and take rest at Hotel Gateway and later leave to Bajpe Airport.
The DK police have made arrangement for the security and traffic system and hence the vehicle movement will be stopped from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm. Around 2000 delegates of the convention are likely to participate in the function. There will be three entry gates for the people with VIP, IVIP and general pass.
The fixed 30 vehicles and other district administration vehicles will escort the President, he added. There will be no vehicle parking facility given to the vehicle owners on the edges of the road but must be parked in Nehru Cricket ground. The Chief Minister of Goa is also expected to participate in the event, but it is not confirmed.
