Kasaragod: A DYFI activist was stabbed to death by a gang of assailants at Kanhangad on December 23, Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Rahman(29), a native of Kalluravil.
He was on way home with a friend on a bike when the assailants attacked him on the Kalluravi- old Kadappura road and fled from the spot. Rehman’s friend Shuhaib was injured in the attack. Though Rehman was immediately rushed to the hospital his life could not be saved.
One of the accused Irshad (26) was also injured during the incident and he has been hospitalised. The DYFI has blamed the Muslim League for the murder.
The DYFI meanwhile has called for a hartal in Kanhangad town limits on Thursday. A political enmity is believed to be the reason behind the murder.
There was a clash between DYFI and Muslim League workers during a victory march after the local body election results. This murder might have been in retaliation to that incident.
Initial information has suggested that six persons were involved in the attack.
