Mangalore: DYFI students and youths staged a demonstration near DCO gates on Thursday, asking the CM, Sadananda Gowda to present a pro-youth budget during the annual(2012-13) budget-making (March21) process, although the original idea of such a budget, apart from an agricultural budget presentation, had come from CM himself, early in March.
But DYFI took advantage of conducting a statewide demonstration at all district centres of the state, when BJP was in turmoil, over Udupi, by-poll for a MP seat, and internal fights for power by EX-CM and his group.
The Democratic Youth Federation leaders pointed out that there were 1.80 lakh vacancies in the state government in all the departments. They wanted reservation in private sector undertakings also for youths.
They called for stringent action against corruption in public life and offices. They did not wish to continue contract labour in Government offices and plans.
Muneer Katipalla, DK leader, asked CM to help the youths, as per his promised talk at a National Youth Festival, held here, but expressed his own misgivings due to BJP internal squabbles.
He criticised the rise in ‘age bar’ from 58 to 60 recently as youngsters could not take the place of elders earlier in service.
Local DYFI leaders were present in the rally of 250 youths.
