Mangalore : The Mangalore City Corporation officials along with the police department relinquished dozens of vegetable vendors for illegally occupying the place at Central Market on October 29, Friday.
The vegetables sold by the vendors in an illegal manner were been loaded in the trucks in no time.
Dr KN Vijayaprakash, Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation said that the vendors selling the vegetables around the road side of the Central Market makes the place filthy, hence it was necessary to clear it and allow free movement for the customers moving within the market.
In spite of warning the vendors to not occupy the place from long time, they still ignore the MCC rule and sell it illegally in the public place.
Though the MCC officials had vacated the place for many times, they used to reoccupy it again and again. But, henceforth if they reoccupy the place again, MCC will take legal action against them, he said.
He also said that selling vegetables by the roadside will be considered as a severe offence in the future.
When the vegetables were carried in the trucks, some of them were seen asking more time to change the location, while some also tried to stage a protest.
