Mangalore : A day long hunger strike held in support to the endosulfan victims in front of DC Office on Dec 12, Wednesday concluded.
Delivering the valedictory speech, Former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa said that the present government is ignoring the problems faced by the endosulfan victims.
He also said that when he was a CM, he had paid a visit to the houses of endosulfan victims located in Kokkada, Patrame and Nidle villages in Belthangady taluk and had given the amount of Rs 50,000 each to 211 victims. But later the government did not continue the compensation procedure.
Yeddy said that as a minister Shobha Karandlaje has done taken an effort to hold good programs for the endosulfan victims.
The primary duty government is to help the endosulfan victims and work for their welfare. But people are not sure of having government and not sure whether this government will be permanent or not.
The governmental duties for the endosulfan victims have been retarded since they are busy in protecting their government. The concerned officials who are involved in it must do their duty of reporting the problem to the government.
He said that he will call to the chief secretary of government and inform the matter to their problem.
The leaders participated in the hunger concluded their fast.
