Mangalore : Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said here on Thursday that the Health Department will launch a mobile app (application) which will give details of fee charged by hospitals for various treatments covered under Rajiv Arogyashree.
Rajiv Arogyashree is a health insurance scheme approved by the State Cabinet on Thursday for Above Poverty Line cardholders.
Addressing presspersons, Mr. Khader said that the government will fix the fee for various treatments in about 100 empanelled hospitals. Details of the fee fixed will be made available in the app. “A person seeking treatment for a heart surgery can choose the hospital,” Mr. Khader said. The Minister said that with the Rajiv Arogyashree scheme, the State government can regulate the rates of treatment. Under the new health scheme, an APL cardholder would be paying only 30 per cent of the treatment expense, while 70 per cent will be borne by the government. The treatment provided under the scheme will be of high quality. The Minister said that the scheme will be launched in the next 10 days. Mr. Khader said that the State government has also approved “Mukhyamantri Santvana Yojane” under which the government will bear the medical expenses of an accident victim incurred during the first 48 hours since he is admitted. “Any person injured in an accident will be covered under this,” he added.
Mr. Khader said tat the expenses incurred by the government for the medical treatment will be deducted from the amount of compensation the victim will receive from the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Tribunal.
