Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader, on Monday, informed that a help desk would soon be set up for those people, returning from Gulf countries, having lost their jobs or having quit the same due to the enactment of the Nitaqat’ scheme in Saudi Arabia and prevailing job crisis in Gulf nations.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet held here, Khader said that the Gulf returnees need to register their names, their job skills and other requisite information at the help desk. On the basis of the information gathered, the government would come out with schemes to support them, he added.
The help desk will be set up either at the deputy commissioner’s office or at any other convenient place, he said.
Several Dakshina Kannada residents who had been employed in Gulf have been hit by the job crisis as well as the introduction of Nitaqat’ scheme, which aims to give preference to Saudi nationals for employment.
