Mangalore: The Hindu Jagarana Vedike, conducted a Single day, DK-level, Kabaddi Tournament for School/college teams to commemorate Martyrs, with a large number of Trophies(including the prized Martyrs’ Trophy) glistening at the Venue on Central Maidan on November 20, Sunday.
The martyrs had lost their lives to anti-social elements. BJP MLA Dr. Chittaranjan of Bhatkal, who was murdered by a Muslim sharp-shooter at home, was one of them, prominently recalled at the tourney after many years.
Gurupura Vajradeshi Mutt Guru Rajashekharananda Swamiji inaugurated the sports event, featuring a dozen teams of boys and girls. In a speech he stressed the need to have a militant Hindu outfit (such as HJV), to protect the status of pious Hindu people against terrorism, and to spread spiritual messages in Hindu society at large.
He added that Vedike was not against any other religion, nor will create social problems Rural Students could show talent in Kabaddi, and such other sports they are attracted to, he informed. Prizes of Rs15000(men) and Rs10000(women) went with several tropics to Winners.
B.Amarnath Rai, district Kabaddi chairman, presided. Shambhu Sharma, Ganapathi Bangera, and Vasudeva Gowda were the Chief guests. B.P. Poojary, secretary, presided at the concluding function on Sunday
