Mangaluru : Hindu Jagarana Vedike staged a protest near the Clock Tower on December 21, Tuesday demanding to stop the quarrying activities in the vicinity of the Karinjeshwara Temple in Karinja of Bantwal taluk.

After the compound wall of the temple had collapsed due to the impact of the stone quarrying and the front portion of the sanctum sanctorum and the roofing of the dining hall have developed cracks leading to seepage of rain water. The quarrying has endangered the temple, the protestors alleged.

The recent Rudragiriya Ranakahale programme which held at Karinja to pressurize the authorities to yield to the demand had failed to yield any result.

The protest was led by Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt’s Rajashekharananda Swamiji.
