Mangalore : The Hindu Jagarana Vedike and Kodikere Nagarika Samithi staged a joint protest in front of DC office in Mangalore on February 12, Tuesday to condemn the drug mafia and to demand the arrest of the accused in the Kodikere Shivaraj murder case.
Addressing the protestors, Satyajith Suratkal, State Co-Convenor of the Vedike said there was a systematic ploy behind the drugs racket operating in the city and added some anti-national organizations were involved in the racket. He said drugs were entering India from China, Pakistan and Afghanistan in huge quantities.
He also alleged that there was a direct link between the counterfeit currency racket and the drugs racket.
He said it was regretting to note that some newspapers were targeting the Vedike which was fighting against the drug mafia.
He said the Vedike would hold awareness meets from Sampaje to Udupi and warned the Vedike will have to take law into hands if the administration neglected the drug menace.
He also demanded that the real accused in the Kodikere Shivaraj case be arrested and alleged the police were dilly dallying to arrest the real culprits.
Vilas, Kishore, Vasudeva Rao Shakuntala, Vijaya Kotian Hindu Jagarana Vedike leaders and Raj Kulal, the father of late Shivaraj Kodikere were present.
